There are many ways to get involved in boating. You can purchase; (for illustration: $50,000 typical 24 boat), over 5 years invest $80,000-$100,000 in your boat. Net value in 5-yrs, about $15,000. You will want to sell your boat in a saturated used boat market & older boats don't sell even at wholesale. Most boaters know that a boat in this age category will probably need a lot of work. Its not an attractive investment. This estimate does not account for your time. With busy schedules boat ownership does not make a lot of sense. Most new boat owners overestimate how much time they will actually use their boat.
